  What is IBackup for Linux?

IBackup for Linux is designed to protect your data against any catastrophe. You can use our online backup and restore application to select and schedule your files and folders for backup.

Your transferred data is encrypted using the industry standard 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. IBackup for Linux uses Stunnel for transferring the data and supports both version Stunnel 3 and 4.

If I keep on performing backups, will I use up my quota quickly?

IBackup for Linux does intelligent patching – it sends only changes made since the last backup to the IBackup servers. Your quota depends on the latest backed up file copy.

I have deleted some unwanted files/folders, from my IBackup account. However, the 'Quota used' does not change. How do I know the exact quota used?

'Quota used' information displayed is not real time. It is computed on a periodic basis. For the updated Quota used information, click the 'Recalculate' button. This process may take some time if your account has a large number of files.

Does IBackup for Linux use Delta Blocking technology?

Yes. IBackup for Linux uses Delta Blocking technology during data transfer. Delta blocking is an advanced logic that divides all files into equal sized blocks. When a file is detected for changes, the checksum of each block of that file is compared with the checksum for the same block of the same file. Any blocks that are found to be different are pulled out and transmitted. These delta blocks are compressed and encrypted before transmission.

How do I take an immediate backup of my files and folders?

Login to your IBackup account and click the 'Schedule Manager' button on the 'Backup' tab. On the 'Schedule Backup Parameters' screen that is displayed, select the 'Start the job immediately' option and click the 'Update Scheduler' button. Files and folders that form your Backup set will immediately be backed up.

Note: When you take an immediate backup of your files and folders, the scheduled backups are stopped. The cron entries on the scheduled backup are erased from the crontab. To re-schedule backups, set the schedule afresh by following the steps to schedule a backup of your files and folders

What does IBackup for Linux do if the Internet connection is interrupted during a backup session?

IBackup for Linux resumes the backups from the file at which interruption occurred. If partial transfers had taken place prior to interruption, it will continue from that partial transfer point. However, this resumption will occur at the next scheduled backup, and not automatically.

When will IBackup for Linux resume the session if it has been missed (ex: The computer has been abruptly turned off) or interrupted?

IBackup for Linux will resume the scheduled backup job(s) at the next transfer time, as per the scheduled time.

I lost a file, which was probably backed up four days ago from my computer. How do I restore it?

Login to your account, go to the 'Restore' tab and navigate to the file or folder starting from ROOT folder. Once you locate the file that you want to restore, select it from the check box and clicking the 'Restore' button. IBackup does not differentiate between full and incremental backup files and hence you would be able to retrieve the latest backed up file which you choose to retrieve.
