IBackup Professional suite of products· is targeted towards enterprise users-such as Healthcare and financial service companies who have stringent data security requirements such as HIPAA compliance and Individual users who need a high performance, versioning capable, secure yet simple offsite backup solution to protect their home or work computers. IBackup Professional·s objective is to complement the Enterprises· backup needs (where the need of the hour is to reduce downtime for backups) with efficient and user-friendly backup solutions. The product also helps enterprises conserve and use bandwidth efficiently. All this is done without compromising on a very important factor-backup performance.

How do I signup for a free trial?

Please visit this link: https://www.ibackup.com/professional/signup.htm. Please enter a valid email id and submit the same. You will receive a mail from support@ibackup.com with details on how to activate your 15-day free trial. After following the instructions and activating your account, you may download the IBackup Professional client and try the product free for 15 days.

How much data can I store in the free trial?

You can store upto 5 GB of data on your trial account. The trial software allows you to try all the features of IBackup professional.

How is data encrypted on transmission?

All data transferred between the IBackup Professional client and server is encrypted using 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology, the industry standard encryption for data transmission.

How is data encrypted on storage?

All data stored on our IBackup Professional servers is encrypted using a secure key mechanism with a user supplied password known only to the end user. This uses industry standard RC4 128-bit encryption on storage Microsoft Crypto API algorithms ideally suited for higher security needs of Financial, Healthcare and Government organizations.

WARNING: Please note that IBackup Professional DOES NOT store the user-supplied password anywhere on our servers and therefore it is highly recommended that users· memorize the password, and also take a hard copy of the user-supplied password and archive it in a safe location. Without this encryption password, users will not be able to retrieve data.

Sometimes, I get a long message about registering IBackup Professional after I click on Login. What does this mean to me as a user?

This message is to notify users that IBackup Professional has already been installed on another computer and is being used with the same username as what you have entered on this machine to login. IBackup Professional client software works with a single username on one computer for logins and does not recommend multiple logins with the same username on multiple machines to avoid any sort of data integrity issues.

The only exception is in case of a system crash etc. on this machine, then IBackup Professional client users can click on Register button to register the software on this particular machine.

Can data backed up using IBackup Professional be visible/available using any other client, network drive mechanism/through the web interface of IBackup?

No. Data backed up using IBackup Professional can be retrieved and viewed using the IBackup Professional client only. It is not available via browser access or other client applications such as Network drives etc. This application is designed for providing a high security, high retention data backup solution, and is not meant for online storage or for sharing.

Is IBackup Professional an HIPAA compliant Data Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution?

IBackup Professional can help you achieve your goal for an HIPAA compliant Data Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution. For more information, please visit IBackup Professional HIPAA compliance page.

I run Windows 2000 Professional and it appears IBackup Professional client is unable to connect to the server. It gives me an error message saying my machine does not support the software.

Should you encounter a message during login to IBackup Professional as under:

"IBackup Professional encountered a critical exception due to which it could not continue. Some possible reasons might include:

1. Your operating system may not support the level of encryption (128-bit) required for IBackup Professional.
2. Your operating system maybe running a lower version of Internet explorer (<6). We recommend you to upgrade it to Internet explorer 6 or higher." then

The problem you are facing is related to the fact that you are running IBackup professional client with a version of Windows 2000 that does not support high level encryption (RC4 CryptoAPI). In order to run the IBackup Professional client, please download the high encryption pack support available from Microsoft's website at this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/recommended/encryption/

Please note that this is applicable only to those users who are running Windows 2000 without SP2 or higher. SP2 for Windows 2000 usually upgrades the encryption pack to support high levels of encryption such as those used by IBackup Professional.

How do I perform the backup of the mapped drives that I have selected for backup using IBackup Professional ?

For majority of users, backing up of data on mapped drives is no different from backing up of data on local disks. For those who have opted for 'NT Service' mode of install for IBackup Professional, they might want to review the following guidelines:

The Mapped drive you have created would be available under the 'Backup' tab pane view of the IBackup Professional client application.

Here, you need to check the required files/ folders to be backed up from the mapped drive.

Then, please select the 'Mapped Drive Setup' option from 'Option' menu and the following Mapped Drive Setup screen appears

Please enter the username/password for the mapped drive that you have selected.

Press ‘Save’ button to save the settings.

Schedule the backup job.

Do scheduled backups of my mapped drives take place when the Windows system has been logged off?

Yes. You can schedule the backup of mapped drives as per your chosen schedule i.e. the desired date/time/frequency etc. and the scheduled backup of those mapped drives should commence just like any other conventional scheduled backup job.

What is Bandwidth Throttle?

By default the application uses maximum bandwidth. This will affect the performance of other Internet applications especially when you have large scheduled backup jobs that are scheduled during your working hours. To circumvent this, users can reduce the application bandwidth and access other Internet applications without any interruptions.

What is the 'Automatic Selection' feature?

The 'Automatic Selection' feature helps you to automatically backup your most commonly used application data such as ‘Microsoft Outlook’, ‘Microsoft Outlook Express’, the ‘My documents’ folder, the ‘My Favorites’ folder etc.

By default, the ‘Automatic Selection’ wizard selects the list of 'most commonly used user data' and the 'most common application data types' that are to be backed up. You may select/deselect the required application types depending on your backup needs.

You may choose the 'Automatic Selection' option by clicking on the 'File selection wizard' menu item.
