How
do I create shareable file/folder links? |
| |
From Web-Manager,
first select the files/folders you would like to share with others,
using the checkboxes provided. Click on Share Folder/File. You can
then choose your sharing options. Select SSL to create SSL enabled
links. You can even choose to password protect your files and folders,
so that your files can be viewed by people who are supposed
to view them. You can Write Enable your shared files and folders
so that others can modify your files and upload them back to your
online backup/storage account. You can enable Locking for your shared
files to avoid any mistaken overwriting. After making these settings,
you will be asked to enter the email addresses of the recipient
with whom you would like to share the files.
You can view
an interactive
demo for file sharing.

What
are the limitations of shareable links? |
| |
The links created
using Web-Manager based file and folder sharing have limited life
span, they expire after a certain number of downloads. If you need
to have 'permanent' sharing on a file or a folder with others, Sub-Accounts
is the preferred method. For details, please see Sub-Accounts.

How
to share files with large content of text avoiding the "Session Expired" error? |
| |
For emails with
large content, the best option is to cut the URL of the link generated
and paste it onto content of an email system of your choice rather
than use IBackup's method to send the URL links.
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
How
do I enable Lock/Unlock feature for share links? |
| |
While generating
the share links, check the 'Locking Enabled' option so that the files
and folders lock status becomes visible to the users who are using
the shared links. Based on their access rights, they can view and/or
modify the lock status.

It
appears my ISP's spam filter is removing IBackup share emails by mistake,
what is the work-around? |
| |
IBackup now offers
sharing using default client built-in, or your own email client, such
as Outlook, Outlook Express or any other default email client of your
choice. You will find the option to 'Send using your email program'
on the share page after you choose necessary options to create the
share.
