IDrive Multimedia
is an advanced Drive Mapping technology with ability to stream Multi-media content
like video and audio using your favorite Media player and also supports Concurrent
Operations on a single file with most windows applications including
Access and Excel. IDrive Multimedia supports advanced features including
SSL encryption and streaming.

Can
I simultaneously access an Access Database file at two different ends using the
IDrive Multimedia application? |
| |
IDrive
Multimedia is the only Internet based Network Drive Storage technology that can
be used to execute concurrent operations such as simultaneous updates and accesses
on an Access Database (try making changes to a row in a table, click on 'records'
and select 'refresh', you will see the corresponding rows accessed by others updated
and will see the most current view of the data). The applications remain on the
desktops, while the data resides on IBackup accounts and are accessed through
IDrive Multimedia technology.

Which
Network Drive application to choose IDrive or IDrive Multimedia, Why have
two Network Drive Applications? |

These two applications are
based on different protocols, and each has advantages over the other. To cover
the widest range of online network drive usage, we offer both. Please note that
IDrive Multimedia works only on 2000/XP.
Browse
files and folders - IDrive is better due to its better file and directory caching.
Edit, Cut-n-Paste, Drag-n-Drop, Delete small files - IDrive is faster due to better
file and directory caching.
Edit, Cut-n-Paste, Drag-n-Drop, Delete medium
sized files - IDrive is faster due to better file and directory caching.
Edit,
Cut-n-Paste, Drag-n-Drop, Delete large files - IDrive Multimedia is faster.
Concurrent updates to Office files - IDrive Multimedia.
Streaming small
Multimedia files - IDrive Multimedia is better.
Streaming large Multimedia
files - IDrive Multimedia only, IDrive would require a complete download before
it can start streaming, IDrive Multimedia can start instantaneously.
In
general, IDrive does a background download of the file accessed to your desktop
before you edit any files, and keeps the data in cache until you make changes,
so appears faster for frequent edits of small to medium sized files. IDrive Multimedia
does not cache data as it directly works with data on IBackup and pulls only pieces
of data that is necessary, allowing concurrent update feature. |

I
can edit an excel/word/access file, make changes, but errors on saving the
file..why? |

This might be due to the long
file name of the file with some special characters. Please rename it to a smaller
name with no special characters, and try the operation again.

Can
I access read only Sub-Accounts using IDrive Multimedia? |
| |
Please
note that IDrive Multimedia is not enabled for read only Sub-Accounts. If you
want to access read only Sub-Accounts, please use IDrive which supports this feature.

Can I connect to IDrive Multimedia behind a proxy server? |
| |
In many enterprise networks,
http(s) connections are done via proxy. If you are behind a proxy, please check
with your administrator on proxy setups and enter appropriate information under
'settings' from IDrive Multimedia's login screen.
If
you are behind proxy, and are unable to get proxy information, we recommend using WebFolders.
WebFolders can be setup without proxy information.

When
I try to open an Access database, it displays a message "the file is not
on your local network or intranet, this type of file could harm your computer",
or something of this nature. Why? |

IDrive Multimedia works directly with the remote IBackup account files unlike IDrive. Since the Access application senses this, it shows a warning message. You may simply ignore this warning message.
However, for some application setups including Microsoft Office XP/2003, it may simply not allow you to open Access. For such cases, please follow the steps:
Open Internet Explorer->Tools->Internet Options->Security->Trusted sites->Sites->Add IP address 127.0.0.1-> uncheck 'Require server verification for all sites in this zone' and click OK. |

Does
IBackup support 'red lining' or 'track changes' feature available with some office
applications such as Microsoft Word? Does IDrive Multimedia support locking mechanisms
available with Word in a multi-user environment? |
| |
Yes, IDrive Multimedia supports
collaborative features in-built with most office applications including word.
While one user can enable track changes feature, make changes, and save, the other
user is informed of the changes being done or locks applied to the file via appropriate
mechanisms inbuilt into the respective application. For example, for a word document,
the second user would get a prompt to choose 'Notify' option on release of locks
by the first user or 'read only' option to read the file.

IDrive
Multimedia does not connect, Why? |
| |
One possible reason
for this may be because of 'client for Microsoft Networks' setup.
If
'client for Microsoft Networks' is installed but not enabled, then please check
that option in 'Local Area Connection properties'.
OR if it is not installed
in your system, then please go to Local Area Connection properties->Install->client->Add->client
for Microsoft Networks->Ok.
IDrive
Multimedia also requires 'Netbios enabled over TCP/IP' in your network settings.
To enable, please go to TCP/IP --> Properties-->Advanced and check this
option. |

Connection
to IDrive Multimedia cannot be established when Norton Internet Security is turned
on, Why? |
| |
If Norton Internet
Security 2005 is turned on in the system, then it requires some extra settings
changes to work with IDrive Multimedia.
During
Norton Internet Security installation, by default the below settings will be blocked.
1)
Default Outbound Net BIOS
2)
Default Inbound Loop back
3)
Windows File Sharing
To
permit the above, please follow the steps below for each of the above three settings.
Open
'Norton Internet Security' -> click on the 'Personal Firewall' option ->
click on the 'Configure' button -> select 'Advanced' tab -> select 'General'
button -> click on the 'Modify' button to change the option from 'Block' to
'Permit'. |
